HypnoLab computes, beside all standard measures of leg movements during sleep, also the Periodicity Index, a measure developed and validated by the program author. Theoretically, this index can vary between 0 (absence of periodicity) and 1 (complete periodicity) and has been proven to be useful in the assessment of a variety of clinical conditions.
REM sleep Atonia Index can vary from 0 (complete absence of EMG atonia), to 1 (stable EMG atonia). This index is computed in a full automatic way and has been validated in a large number of recordings of patients with different clinical conditions. It offers a fast, robust and reliable evaluation of muscle atonia.
HypnoLab performs a validated automatic quantitative measure of the sleep EEG signal amplitude variability during NREM sleep, correlated with the visually extracted cyclic alternating pattern (CAP) parameters.
